Why I Transcribe

You may think you need to spend $1500 - $2,000 for transcribing schools or courses.  That’s simply NOT true.  Not all good transcribers went to school to break into the field.

I started transcribing because the automotive industry was beginning to slow down and my husband’s business was no longer providing enough income to keep the business afloat and meet our needs at home. He told me I needed to get a part-time job to help out with the bills.

I hadn’t worked in 12 years because I was raising our children and the only skills I had were administrative. I really hated the thought of returning to the corporate world. A friend suggested I come to work for her and transcribe some audio files she had. I knew how to do that and she said I could do it at home, so I jumped on the opportunity.

As the economy slowed, I needed additional income and began to apply online for transcription jobs. Within a week I had landed a position where I could transcribe to my heart’s content and was able to generate a nice income so that I could actually support my family.

Since I started transcribing, I have successfully trained others who are now working full time in the industry, either in contracting companies or working with their own client base. Helping others get started as a transcriptionist takes time and oftentimes personal attention, but I have compiled all my resources so you can easily access them while you’re learning the ropes.

Once you know what you need to get started and how to get transcription work that pays well, you too can be on your way to financial independence. If you feel it would benefit you to have one-on-one coaching as you get started in the transcription industry, please contact me for a reasonable rate quote.
