• Is there a big demand for general transcription? // November 30 2009

  This is always a need for transcription. Sometimes you just need to know where to look for work, but it's out there. Medical and corporate (general) transcription is probably in the highest demand. The Internet marketing industry can also be lucrative. Withe the advent of podcasts, webinars and teleseminars, the need for transcription is continuing to grow.
  
  Other areas that have a need for transcriptionists include:
  
  * college students working on a thesis or dissertation
  * conventions often want transcripts of of their guest speakers to send out to attendees
  * attorneys need transcripts of depositions
  * journalists want transcripts of their interviews
  * marketing/advertising groups want transcripts of their focus groups and phone surveys
  * insurance companies need transcripts of phone calls regarding claims
  and the list goes on...
  
  In today's digital world, oftentimes a printed copy is necessary. Having the option to print a phone call or meeting content requires a transcriber to turn voice into words - that's when clients start looking for a transcriptionist.
